What You’ll Need

Welcome! Below is what you’ll need for class. One of the challenging parts of being new is not knowing what to expect. Here is a bit of information that will help make things a little more simple and streamlined.


We are here to help you navigate through the often, confusing part of being new and get you acclimated to what you’ll need!  We want to make sure that your experience at our studio is nothing but positive. We are frequently teaching or out in the community and will do our very best to get back to within 48 hours.


Each one of our signature Modo classes has 40ish postures that combine therapeutic and traditional yoga in a specially-heated room (approximately body temperature). Each Modo Yoga class is cardiovascular, and it strengthens, loosens, and tones the muscles. The heat allows for deep, safe stretching and detoxifies the skin, blood, and muscles. It does not matter where you are in the lifecycle of your practice, our classes and our studio are for you. Our classes are for newbies and seasoned practitioners. We cannot wait to meet you and welcome you in to the community.


In a hot studio, for your comfort and safety, we recommend a few things so your first class goes well. Here’s what you’ll need:

FIRST – You have to be at least 16 years old. We would love to offer hot yoga to all ages but unfortunately it’s not medically recommended if you have not yet finished puberty and we want everyone to be safe.

SECOND – A yoga mat. Don’t have one with you? No problem we have mats available to rent for class

THIRD – Towels, two of them. Mats get slippery when you get sweaty so it helps to lay a towel over your mat during class. Many people prefer to shower after class and like to have an additional towel to dry off with. Both these are also available to rent.

LAST – A reusable water bottle. We do not sell water at the studio (Check out our Live Green pillar here). Filtered water is available to fill and refill your reusable water bottle.

Other tips for a great first class

  • Avoid coming to class on a full stomach – BUT make sure you are well nourished, you will need energy for class.
  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – drink plenty of water before class.
  • Be an early bird – arrive at least 15 minutes before class time. We encourage practicing savasana before class, we start on time, and we do not allow latecomers to enter class after it’s begun, sorry!
  • Wear clothing you feel comfortable getting sweaty in, potentially very sweaty.
