Modo Teacher / Student

Why do you love the Modo community?

I love every aspect of the community. I love that everyone who walks through our doors has a different story, a different day they lived compared to the person next to them. But we all connect. We connect with each other, but even more so connect with ourselves.

Why do you teach yoga?

Initially, I was interested in teaching because of how this practice affected me and my life. Over time, my intentions and my truth have changed. I think I do this everyday because the connection. Being young and growing up in this technologically based world, I notice that we never really connect with the people we’re around, we’re always looking the other way, thinking about what we’re going to do next. I’m drawn to people, I want to know their story and what brought them into this space, with me and with everyone else in the room. It’s the connection. That’s why I do what I do.

What yoga certifications do you have?

Modo Level 1 – 500 YTT; Modo Flow – 100 YTT

If you were an animal, what would it be?

Lion

You have one day completely to yourself in Columbus.  What do you do?

A full day off to myself?!?!? I’d try and do it all. First, I’d take my dog to a park. Maybe Goodale or somewhere new. Then, I’d go to the art museum because it’s dope and I don’t get there enough. Following that, I’d go to a new restaurant I’ve never been to and try some new food. And I’d end my day with a yoga class at my favorite studio in Columbus, Modo Yoga 😉

What’s your favorite yoga pose and why?

My favorite pose is pyramid pose. I have struggled to find a comfortable place in my body and struggled to find a good way to teach the pose for a long time. It’s the pose that reminds me this practice is forever evolving and even more so, you’ll be different everyday you come to your mat. Some days it still doesn’t feel right but that’s where the work is at.

You can only eat at one Columbus restaurant for the rest of your life.  What is it?
